In 1995, Ben received his B.S., magna cum laude, in international relations from Pomona Collegge, and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1998. For eight years he practiced
as a corporate attorney at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York City, where he advised clients on a variety of complex public and private company transactions totaling more than $250 billion in value. Shortly thereafter, Ben joined Lazard Ltd in New York City as a director, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets. Most recently, Ben was a partner at the investment firm Casablanca Capital LP where he focused on investments involving complex legal, regulatory and transactional elements, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs, IPOs, recapitalizations, corporate governance issues, regulatory investigations and activist situations.
Ben is currently a partner at Allen Matkis in the firm’s San Francisco office and is a member of its Corporate and Finance Department. He advises clients on complex transactions and matters affecting corporate governance and strategy. Ben works with a broad range of clients, from individuals and investment firms to public and private companies, on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, cross-border takeovers, contested situations and shareholder activism, as well as financing and general corporate and securities matters.
